Every career has its entrance and exits , its high points and valleys , its scenes in shadow and sunlight.I describe what influences made me who I am, how I came to choose my career, my search to find the right combination of people to work with, and the difficulties I faced as I traveled the path my journey took me.
For some, to exist in a safe organized routine and an orderly life is their goal. For others like myself, I needed a bit of chaos to throw up challenges and opportunities and that meant plans often having to be modified, not always knowing what would intrude and having to adapt to what came at me. Others are just as happy to get carried along by the tide of life.
Our children's children to had a significant role in the affairs around them will have to have a heightened awareness of what living in their times involves in order to make a home of the outside world. We will be their audience and mentors so that their ideas will become firmer, more practiced and their decisions more precise.
To write my memoirs I had to go back find out what made me who I am.I am not the same person now writing my story as I was at the time I am writing about. There is a famous quotation that says what did not destroy me made me stronger, only happened when I carried with me the lessons and experiences I learnt along the way.

I take my grandchildren on a guided tour along the pathway my journey took me stopping at milestones to describe and explain significant episodes that made my life what it became.
I have tried to write it in such a way my grandchildren will recognize potential issues they will have to manage and how to navigate some of the minefields they will be confronted with from time to time.
Hopefully it will be a guide to understanding what it is like to live in our times so they will be equipped with the tools to deal with difficult episodes in their lives, still live a life of joy and purpose and after it all, find peace.

History respects the facts, but can serve as a warning and tell you the questions you should be asking and to  think things through. In a sense we all share the same cultural roots. Every one of us require the basics of life, such as food, shelter, security and family. The differences are on the surface and are concerned with interpretation of the purpose of life and what is necessary to have balance.
