I was born in Christchurch New Zealand graduated from the University of Canterbury with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. I spent a short stint in sales at the Shell oil company before working in the New Zealand chemical fertilizer industry as a chemist and plant superintendent. In 1966 I was selected by ICI Australia to commission a chemical fertilizer plant at their Yarraville chemical complex in Melbourne.I worked for ICI Australia in various roles including, plant management, productivity services, technical sales, marketing, design and consulting. After approximately 11 years the opportunity arose to enable me to set up my own business, initially consulting, designing and building treatment plant in the environmental area, after which I set up two chemical companies, one of which I ran for 11 years and the other for approximately 16 years.
My memoirs is my story of what made me who I became, the difficulties I faced when selecting a career and then the search to find a sustainable occupation working with like-minded people that would energize me to do something of importance. I describe what it was like working in technical services, running large chemical processing plants and the change in culture when I transferred into sales and marketing working in a large global company. I describe my interaction with people who would influenced my career and the politics and culture, which if not managed can destroy your career or even a company. I leave this scene and establish my own company and after 7 years formed a partnership which eventually disintegrated with much acrimony and set up another company to find myself struggling to survive in a sea of deception, manipulation and aggression which finally led to receivership and liquidation
I explained some of the life traumas I had to face, including a vivid descriptions of the pain and agony to see your life's work struck out by a stroke of the pen. It is a story of intrigue, deception, manipulation and revenge.
